Midday with the Boys

Today is sunny, but chilly here in the Burgh. Tavin had a rough time with the tough love during his first nap (with some encouragement from friends, I'm trying to let him cry it out with the Ferber method - visiting him at timed intervals to assure him) and Koen was getting restless by 11am, so I decided we would venture out for a change of pace for all of us for Tavin's next naptime. Sorry about the run-on sentence there!

Tavin rode in the Baby Bjorn. Koen walked like a big boy until the end of S. Pacific where he declared, "I'm tired and need a drink of water," so into the carriage he went. We walked down to Voluto Coffee to stop and say hi to Doug. He was able to join us for the rest of our adventure.

We walked down Penn Ave. (sidewalks are mostly clear, but an occasional icy patch or snow-covered area does occur which is a challenge with the carriage!) to Whole Foods. Got a few of our classic buys from there. By the way, to anyone in the Burgh with kids, the Back To Nature brand 100% Whole Wheat Mac N Cheese is on sale this week for $1.69! Cheaper than I've ever seen it.

Koen loved being back outdoors and watching the buses, taxis (yep, we actually spotted two despite the lack of them here in the Burgh), fire trucks and of course, cars and trucks. Passing by several parking lots, Koen pointed out, "Hey Mommy, there are some more parking spaces, they need more cars and trucks." What's a mom to do about that??

I loved the fresh air and Tavin slept like a dream in the Baby Bjorn. Shoulders are a little stiff, but it was totally worth it.

In related news, we are into the 3rd naptime and Tavin did wake up and cry. I had to comfort him twice with a little visit and pat on the tummy and he went back to sleep! Yay! I think I'm going to have to wake him up to eat! I'm so encouraged.

  1. Sounds like a lovely day! We used Ferber with Coop and still use the same pre-bed routine: Bible story, Jesus Loves Me, and kisses. Love reading the blog! Lydia
