Koen's 3rd Birthday, Part II

Well, it was a beautiful day in the Burgh yesterday and we made the most of it since we were here instead of being away.

Koen never did end up falling asleep at naptime, so he was a little touchy for the rest of his birthday.

In the afternoon, he practiced riding his bike some more and played in the backyard with Daddy, we played upstairs for a while with his train set. (So gratifying when your child wants to play with the new things they got!). Then he had his dinner. Sean and Jen came over for cake at a last minute invite (Koen earlier in the day had asked, "are friends coming over like last year?", so we did our best to round up some friends!). Koen was adorable trying to blow out the candles. I eventually had to help him with it. So cute. He loved his cake. A recipe from my Aunt Eileen for black bottom cupcakes, but it made a delicious and special cake. Yum! He had 2 pieces!

Soon after cake we put the overtired birthday boy to bed. We totally forgot to give him his other presents. Oh well, the birthday party just keeps going I guess...
