Today was catch-up day!! I was hoping to not let this happen too much, but we did get a little behind with our ornaments. Koen LOVES this activity though, so he keeps me on my toes keeping up with it. Today we did 3 ornaments based on Luke 2:1-7...Bethlehem, Stable and Manger. Here's Koen working on the town of Bethlehm...
Here's his stable ornament...
The manger was the most involved ornament. We made it out of salt dough. It was my first experience with this dough and it worked great. It'll be a good craft idea to keep in mind. Koen made Jesus' head and the straws of hay. I did the actual manger because Koen didn't quite get that we had to make it small-ish so it could be an ornament. He was ready to make a life-size replica out of the dough. =)
Here's the pre-baked version.
Now it's all baked and painted and drying. It's really cute and Koen did a great job painting the different areas the appropriate colors. He's very specific like that. Especially when he looks at an example of it.
Well, we are now caught up. Stay tuned for more!
