Pittsburgh International Children's Festival

It's fun having lived in the city for a few years now. We are learning the kid-friendly, family fun, free events to go to and the Pittsburgh International Children's Festival totally fits that bill.

Koen was so excited to go the "Festival Committee" today (in a Berenstain Bear book, Mama Bear is on the Festival Committee, so now Koen thinks that the two words go together, I tried to explain it to him today, that it was just the Festival today). He actually asked to come in from playing in the backyard with Daddy to go to the bathroom and then when he had success he said, "now I don't have to go before we go to the Festival!"

After Tavin's hour and 45 min. morning nap and his "lunch" we headed out with a picnic blanket and lunch and lots of backup clothing for the infant and potty training child. =)
In this picture we show off our new Chicco stroller. I mentioned how Chicco totally sent us a brand new stroller out of good faith after receiving our e-mail regarding the odd break of our previous Chicco stroller. We are so thankful to have a single stroller again and it is so fun that it is brand new! Tavin is also wearing a Red Sox hat for the first time. Go Red Sox!

It was such a nice family time. We heard the folk singers that Koen so enjoyed last weekend and they recognized us too. Then we headed on to find the Northway Oakland tent. They were doing a fun, make-your-own puzzle craft. Koen was really excited to see Miss Megan. She is a highlight every Sunday, so to see her on a weekday was a big treat. He blew her kisses when we left too. It's fun watching your kids develop relationships and interest in people.

We enjoyed lunch under the big tent at Schenley Plaza. A man was performing during the meal. It was a little less kid-friendly than we hoped as he was really boisterous and rough around the edges, not to mention the eating of fire and laying on a bed of nails. But it was somewhat intriguing and Koen was glued to it.

Next we grabbed ice cream and then headed back over near the Northway tent to check out some other activities and just enjoy sitting on our blanket in the shade. Tavin had some sweet tummy time and I got these adorable pictures.

I think Tavin is a little upset that he can't eat ice cream, a family "special treat" favorite

He is such a charmer!

Getting sleepy...time to head home (and he took a 2 hour nap again!)
