So, Tavin slept great again. Kids are such troopers. I can't imagine dealing with that discomfort and pain and sleeping so great (while sucking a thumb on/off) and then being such a good sport all day long. Today Tav was much more himself. He didn't have much of an appetite for breakfast, but he had high spirits and was really excited that Koen was home from school (in service day for teachers). We spent a lot of our morning outside since it was again gorgeous! We met Deborah, Miles, Claire and Hazel at Blue Slide Park in Frick Park. Before they arrived, Koen and Tav had some fun playing together (well, in close proximity to each other).
Tavin, Penn and I actually ran over to the dentist we go to in Squirrel Hill so that she could take a look at Tav's mouth. Tav's gum above his left front top tooth bled when he fell and has been swollen ever since. The dentist confirmed that that tooth probably did have some trauma and she said it was just the slightest bit wiggly. She said it may discolor, but it may not. I'm hoping for the latter. Koen got to stay with Deborah and her kids at the playground and Tavin couldn't wait to get back and join them. He was so patient in the long wait in the waiting room and then was an amazingly brave patient. This was his first dentist experience and he climbed right up in the big chair and was so compliant with the dentist. That's my Tav!
We were all happy to get out of the closed-in office space and back into the amazing day. We got back to the playground and Koen was having a blast with his buddy. Unfortunately, the blue slide was closed, but Miles and Koen had plenty of fun doing other things. Tavin played a little with Claire and worked a lot with the diggers he brought from home. He is so amazingly content and happy to work on his own. Really different from Koen now and back when he was Tav's age too I believe. We all had a picnic lunch and then headed home for the 1pm feeding for Penn. Koen's behavior was iffy at the playground, so he lost his privilege of hanging with Tav during the feeding, so he had to play by himself. I just don't know what will help him get it through his head that pushing and being mean to others is not acceptable, but I wasn't about to let him beat up on Tav while my hands were tied nursing Penn! Tav had a good nap this afternoon and was again very much himself tonight including the fact that he ate more normal food and seemed pretty comfortable doing so. Praise the Lord that little kids heal so quickly and can deal with so much!
