Yesterday I was hosting a baby shower in the afternoon, so Doug was on kid duty all morning while I cleaned and prepped. He, as always, took the boys out for an awesome Daddy Day. A little ode to husband here...you are so good with the boys and I love how you come up with these simple, fun plans and you guys just have a blast. It's impressive. Not to mention, it makes me jealous that I'm not with you guys!
Doug left the house with his little buddies at 9:30am. They didn't come home until 2pm (shower start-time) and went right upstairs for a quick wash down and then to nap. They all rested hard while the women filled the first floor with lots of chatting, laughing and showering my friend Bethany with lots of baby stuff!
During their time out, Doug took the boys to Frick Park to play on the blue slide. Tavin got his first ride down on the cardboard (with Doug of course). Loved it! Doug tried to take them out on the baseball field with a wiffle ball and bat (Koen is impressive!), but they didn't last long at that in the bright sun. Tavin was not happy sweating it out. So Doug took them on a walk. Koen was on his bike and Tavin spent half the time on Doug's shoulders and half the time walking trying to keep up with his big brother and Daddy. The shaded walking trails were perfect and they last a long time in the woods. Doug said Koen must have biked a mile! He met a little boy on the trail and they raced back and forth lapping Doug and Tavin on foot. After all this exercise, Doug took the boys to lunch at Dee's and they had a blast eating the lunch I packed, Doug enjoying his hot dog. After the lunch break they went to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods to do errands for me and finally, they stopped at Oh Yeah! for a refreshing ice cream. Is Doug not the best at entertaining kiddos for an entire Saturday morning?
Thanks, babe. You are the best!
