Yesterday we went to the Carnegie Science Center for the morning with a bunch of moms from our playgroup. It was a lot of fun. Koen is at such a great age to really enjoy much of what the museum offers and Tav is at a fun age to just enjoy walking around and watching others do things he can't and definitely jumping in where he can. It was extra cute yesterday because all the kids that were able to come were boys (except for one adorable 6 month old baby girl). The 7 little boys fully enjoyed just being boys around the museum together.
Right after getting there, we met up with everyone and the boys enjoyed a few fun things on the first floor. Koen really liked pumping up the air pressure in this exhibit to make a ball go flying. Here he is overseeing Kaiser (who did it just fine on his own).Koen helped Samuel out on the same device. Look at the little crowd of boys watching. So cute!Next stop (no pun intended) was the train exhibit. This has always been a favorite for Koen. This was the first time that Tavin was really, really into it too. Here he is waiting patiently for Thomas to chug along the track.Tavin also got to push the train whistle thing for the first time (brother helped).Tavin is so into airplanes since Abbie left on one last Sunday. Anytime he sees one he says, "Babbie?" It's so sweet. He was thrilled to see an airport and airplanes amidst the plans and of course, he did ask for his Aunt Abbie.Outside the train display is the robot exhibit. Koen has learned how to control it. He got it to sing "Singing in the Rain" for Tav and I. Tavin looked a little freaked out!
Then we headed to our favorite floor, the 4th floor, where there is the super young child-friendly area. Check out the nice view of downtown I snapped through the window.Koen and Tavin set to work in the wheelbarrel/ball factory area right away. Koen treats it like a real job. It's so cute. Tavin keeps himself busy.Kaiser found the boys and also jumped in to help. Hard workers!Koen later found the digger thing that somehow he has gotten so good at it despite the fact it is very cumbersome and uncomfortable to even try to manage as an adult.Tavin played in the water area for a little while, but since he left a toy dump truck to play in the water and then saw his brother zipping around the room with the dump truck, so he promptly left the water station and started whining after his brother. Oh dear.Later Tavin found the drum section. He started saying, "ba-rum-pum-pum" which is his way of saying he wants to play drums ("Little Drummer Boy"). Look how proud he is.Around noon we had a nice lunch and then the boys played in the aquarium area. The submarine was a hot item and they all wanted to work the headlights. There was a little tension. Look at all of them!Kyndal got this adorable picture of Porter and Tavin hanging out together while the big boys still struggled to share the sub. These little guys are so cute!Things were winding down and there was still quite a struggle over the sub, so we figured it was time to head home and get everyone to nap on time. Poor Xavier was sad about something and was lying on the floor in defeat. Tavin thought he was inviting a wrestle time like the way Koen does often in the playroom. It made for a pretty funny picture! Sorry, Xave!Well, it was a great morning out on a chilly, overcast Pittsburgh winter day. We are so thankful for our fun city and our great friends to share it with!
