Daddy Comes Home Bearing Gifts
Doug loves giving gifts. I was not surprised that he didn't arrive home last night empty-handed. I got two pagminas (sp?), some fun whole wheat pasta from "Eataly" a favorite spot in NYC and Doug had a pile of things for both the boys. Koen, of course, spotted the gifts right away when we sat down to breakfast. When they finished eating I let them open them. Two for each were from Doug and one for each was from Nic, V and Mo (our Aussie friends Doug was visiting in NYC). Look at their concentration as they try to get into the ribbon...Once they broke through the ribbon and the paper, look how happy at their little subway trains (these fit on their wooden train tracks, Koen was thrilled!, no surprise there is already a new subway built up in the playroom).Tavin is obviously taking lessons from Big Brother on how to do everything from unwrapping to playing with the trains.Koen also got a hat (just like Daddy's) and Tavin got a cute countdown bedtime book. From Nic, V and Mo the boys got wonderful Australian books. Tavin got "Wombat Stew" and Koen got "Are We There Yet?" We've already read them and the boys love them. The "Are We There Yet?" book in particular was so fun for Koen and it makes me want to take them on a cross-country trip here in the US as well as through Australia.Well, it was a fun start to the morning. I've had a terrible headache all day, so it was nice relief to have church this morning and then we ran some errands while the boys had a snacky lunch and we got home right in time for nap (well, a little late). Hopefully this evening will be better than yesterday evening which was quite frustrating with Koen. I'm keeping a positive attitude and hoping for the best!
