"Firsts" for the New Year

In the last few days we've had a nice start to the New Year. Here are a few of the fun "firsts" that have kept us busy...

>First Guests Visit: Last night our neighbors visited for dinner. We saved our New Year's Day meal to enjoy with them on the 2nd...pork, sauerkraut soup, salad and homemade bread. Yum! Tavin and Huck climbed up on the living room chair together, I couldn't resist the first pictures of these two little buddies in 2012. They were good little posers too, although not always timed right together. Oh well, still super cute.First Snow of 2012: The boys were so excited to see snow. Koen happily put on his boots to go out on our errand runs. Tavin followed brother "skating" on the slippery snow on the porch. Tavin does this hilarious thing when he sees snow. He does a sniffing noise. I don't know why, but he's been doing it all day anytime we call attention to the snow or have him look outside at it. Did I tell him it smells good or something? Oh well, hilarious!First Injury of 2012: Tavin and Koen were running around while I was making lunch. I specifically said to them to stay out of the kitchen and to calm down and play something productive. Well, some good that did. They zoomed through the kitchen and before I could put Koen in time out, Tavin slid as if the stool in the corner was home base and both bit through his lip and got a whopper of a bruise on his forehead. He was quite sad for 10 minutes as I soothed him and then tried to keep ice on his injuries, but soon afterwards he was back to his normal self. Here are a few pictures of the poor bug!Well, the last "first" wasn't exactly a positive start, but otherwise things are going well. I do love our life and our little daily routine. The vacation of the holidays, guests here at home and Doug around so much was a wonderful blessing, but we are settling into the norm just fine (well, except for the obedience issues and the ouchies they produce). Look for more posts on what we are doing to start off the New Year!
