Koen's Actual 4th Birthday

We had basically celebrated Koen's birthday yesterday, but with today being his actual birthday, we still made some special moments and honestly, the emotions of my baby turning 4 totally hit me! When I dropped him off at Kidz Church this morning they gave him a big birthday welcome and said, "wow, you're 4!" And I totally started tearing up! Time really, really flies! After church we headed to a playground to enjoy the warm day. The boys loved it! We did a bunch of things while we were there. Koen had this imaginary game with himself where he was in this hiding spot pretending to be a lion (and he was roaring at everyone). Tavin just continues to check everything out. And he is just adorable!

To make the most of the beautiful day we also played out in the backyard after lunchtime. Koen was totally into his trucks. Tavin didn't know what to do. He was weirded out that I stuck him in the middle of the grass and he never moved. He played with a few toys and then just with his hat. Kind of a dull backyard start for the little guy this year, but hopefully he'll be able to walk soon and enjoy it more.

So back on the birthday celebrations, beyond the many birthday wishes at church, we also had a few phone calls and a surprise birthday gift dropoff from Aunt Megan! Lastly, I let Koen have ice cream again after dinner. He wanted to put his own candles in this time. He wanted 5 even though it was his 4th birthday. Sure...why not? The video definitely looks like the ice cream is on fire! He thought it was great, of course. Tavin wasn't so sure. Check out Tavin's face when I turn the camera to him...hilarious!

I have to also include this adorable picture of the boys. I had gone out of the room for a moment when they were still at the kitchen counter, when I came back in they were laughing and kissing each other. So sweet! After dinner we went to the playground again (can't get enough of the warm weather, loving it!). Tavin started pointing and grunting as soon as it came into view. It's so cute that he recognizes it and is so excited to get going! Koen had a blast because his friends from down the street happened to arrive around the same time and they played hide and seek!
