Tavin is the definition of a homebody. Lately, with the cold and the inability to walk and enjoy our neighborhood I've been actually using the van and planning playdates out and about after we drop Koen off at school. Not every day, but once or twice a week. This week it was twice. I think that was twice too much for Tav. Oh my goodness, this kid just loves being at home. Of course, he does some whining at home too, but really, he whines more when we are out. I think it's still nice for all of us to go and play elsewhere and I like exposing Penn to situations outside the house occasionally so that he's able to nap and deal with being out of his little (awesome) routine at home in the AM at least (I don't like to mess with the holy grail...afternoon nappers). Anyways, this morning we had an outing. We dropped Koen off at school, then headed to the store and then on to the Children's Museum. We got there right at 10am at opening. Kyndal, Kaiser, Porter and Malone joined us soon afterwards. Tavin immediately tried something new. At first he said that this climbing maze was just for big brother. Then he said, "I'm all grown up now, Mommy, I do-do i-ya." And here he goes. You can see how thrilled he was with his successful self!
It sort of looks like he's in a cage, doesn't it? Don't worry, he wasn't. Fully free to roam as evidenced by these pictures where he, Kaiser and Porter had a blast running through the rainbow tunnel special exhibit. At one point he was so tired from going through it over and over again at high speeds he sat down and took a break saying his belly needed a rest (I think he had a cramp from running!).
We really didn't get to too much else as we weren't there for super long and Tav was soooo into these two activities. Here's a few shots from another activity area though that minimally peaked his interest. Porter was in on it too.
Kaiser was busy learning about circuits.
Then Tav wondered over to check it out himself (Kaiser doesn't look super please with this).
And what about Penn and Malone? They hung out in the BabyBjorns most of the time. They had a minute face to face. Pretty cute.
It was such a nice outing for me. Penn did awesome hanging out and then taking a nap in the stroller. I was super proud of Tav for doing his big boy stuff (including keeping those underpants dry and clean the whole time!) and it was so nice to be with my friend, Kyndal. Sorry, Tav, I know you like just hanging at home, but wasn't it worth it?
