Rainy Day Fun at the Children's Museum

Thankfully we had the Children's museum with our playgroup buddies on the calendar for today. It is a super rainy day here, so an excuse to get out was great! Only one other friend could make it, but we didn't mind. We always welcome a visit with Miss Kyndal, Kaiser and Porter!

We decided to forego Tav's nap so that we could have several hours there playing before lunch. Tavin did very well despite missing his rest time. He spent some time chilling in the stroller with his blanket watching Big Brother, but he also played quite a bit.

The little stunt man. You can see his bloody lip still from yesterday. He had a mishap with the sliding practice at the playground. Nothing seems to stop this active little guy!"Hmmm, what's brother up to? He looks really interested in that box. Well, that's dull. I'll just act like I get it and stand here like he is."

It's fun to see that Koen and Kaiser are such good playmates now the way they are interested in mostly all the same things. They enjoyed being around one another today (they are definitely still at that stage where they don't really play with each other, but they enjoy and are so comfortable with each other).
You can see from Koen's facial expression that he's definitely working on the sharing thing. We had a few chats about it today. It's easier to share when the toys aren't yours, so he did pretty well, still you can see it's a struggle!
See-saw bubble-making with Kaiser. A fun ride!
And water play. They just look so darling in their rain slickers!

I also thoroughly enjoyed the time hanging out with Kyndal. It is always so nice to chat with a like-minded mom about kids, life, etc.
Koen was really into some engineering projects today. He was particularly interested in how pulleys work and did very well figuring out a few different systems that they had set up. One was in the water room... Dad, doesn't he look like he's hoisting a sail up a mast? You would've loved to see him working on these pulley systems today. He's definitely got some of your engineering genes! I love seeing him concentrate, focus and problem solve!
Then he was also really into the parachuting area of the mechanics room. He did it over and over again for about 20 minutes. The museum helper at that station said he was the most polite little guy she'd ever met. Although, she only had a 20 minute taste of my many-sided wonder boy, it's always encouraging to hear feedback like that so that I know that at least sometimes he is displaying the behavior and attitude we so hope to encourage in him so that he can bless others and be blessed himself. Anyways, here are 2 videos of the parachuting. He loves it!

Tavin made it home without falling asleep. Koen seemed to be doing quite well attitude-wise until we got home when he threw a rock toward our street and it hit our car and totally scratched/dented it (I had just told him about not doing this the other day when he attempted it and his boyish arm didn't thrust it very far. This time...not so lucky). Needless to say that did not put our time at home off to a good start. Post-discipline for the car incident, he did play nicely with Tavin for a few minutes before he also started picking on him. He just loves to test the limits with his poor little brother. So frustrating! And I feel so bad for poor Tavington Bear. He loves Big Brother so much, but what he gets put through!

I got the boys to their naps and breathed a sigh of relief. Koen was exhausted and Tavin, too. I hope they sleep extra long today. We all need the break!
