Today (can it really be September already???), we had a great visit at our friends house. Miles is a buddy that Koen has had since birth practically and now Tavin is getting to know his little sister, Claire. Koen and Miles played together better today than ever. It was really rewarding for both Deborah (Miles' mom) and I to see that discipline, consistent teaching and example must be paying off if they can have positive and sweet moments like these. Must focus on the good days, so that I can remember them on the bad ones that I'm sure we still have yet to go through.
Miles has a fabulous basement play area that Koen really, really enjoyed. We were there for about 3 hours and the boys only left the playroom once to go to the bathroom! Koen played with Miles' play kitchen for a long time. Then they moved on to the train table for awhile. Miss Deborah had a fabulous idea and set up the table with a large sheet of paper and they got to color, stamp and later paint. Koen just loved it!
Tavin did well on the playdate as well. He played for about 30-45 mins. (his new thing is playing with trucks/cars and trying to roll them and figure them out) and then I laid him down for a nap. He did get a little upset, but then he slept for probably over an hour. After his nap he played a little more and then we left in time so that I could feed him at home (I didn't want to risk filling him up with food at Deborah's and then have him fall asleep on the way home, possibly messing with his afternoon nap). Thankfully, the plan worked and Tavin got home awake and in good spirits.
Koen was exhausted from so much play (not to mention he wet the bed last night as well as asked me a separate time to take him to the bathroom...ugh. So we lost a little sleep there, but thankfully he did fall back asleep and slept in this morning). He could barely concentrate on anything when we got home. He actually asked to go to nap, but I couldn't take him right away because I was feeding Tavin. We made it through though and I got him down earlier than usual. I hope both boys sleep until almost 5pm. That would be great! We'll see...
Thanks Deborah, Miles and Claire for a fun morning and for Koen's lunch!
