With Doug out of town and little Jansen still figuring out his evening routine (which is often a loud process!), I attended the 1:30pm dress rehearsal on Thursday afternoon. It was a great alternative to going to the 7pm showing on Friday evening. I got a great seat and was able to take photos and video. Here's Koen as a bird (in orange) during the mustard seed parable.
At the end of the production, all the childrens in grades K-5 get on stage and sing a song together.
It's a really sweet production. The volunteers and staff behind the production create the entire thing from scratch...the theme/idea, script, music, lyrics, set, etc. It's an impressive undertaking for a small school. And the play was very entertaining with clever jokes and puns, etc. The kids do a lot of work too...they make their costumes, add artwork to the set, the program, etc. It's such a unifying project for the elementary school. And I think that's why it's become such a hallmark of this school. Koen loves being a part of it!
Here's the video of the final song (and my very serious performer, Koen)...
After the production, I had Megan take the boys out to ice cream to celebrate with Koen. They were super happy about the idea. Here they are on their little date with Miss Megan Magee!
Good job, Koen! It was a blast to watch you work hard to prepare for this production and then to watch you perform in it. And thanks to Megan Magee for being our extended family at the event this year. We are so thankful for good friends like you to share life with!
