Truth in the Tinsel 2014, Days 1 and 2

So, it's been two years since we've done "Truth in the Tinsel."  Perhaps you remember our last experience with it?  Last year was just so new with Koen in all day school that I couldn't figure out how it would fit into our day.  This year with Tav not napping and now of an age to participate in it with us, I really wanted to do it again.  I love how it helps us focus on the real meaning of Christmas each and every day of December leading up to the 25th with Scripture, crafts and other ideas to help your kids understand what this season is all about.  So, on Monday, the 1st, we did Day 1.  Light.  Koen offered (actually very excitedly) to do the Scripture reading.  He did so well with the big words and the serious nature of the reading from Isaiah.  He was so proud and it really made him engage in the activity.  This day's craft was making a translucent lantern ornament.
The boys' favorite part was the cutting!

Today (the 2nd), we had the same passage of Scripture (which Koen offered to read again and he did a great job, he took such pride in it!), but this time we focused on the Kingdom.  The boys got to make crown ornaments.  This time the glitter glue pens were the highlight.  I had no idea glitter glue could be so time consuming (this will be a new rainy day activity for sure!).

Koen and Tavin, I am so excited to focus on Jesus this month with you.  I hope we all learn new things together about this most special gift.
