Truth in the Tinsel, Days 15-20

I really thought I blogged about days 15-18 already, but apparently not.  We had a crazy, busy week with tons of entertaining and with Koen still in school it's often hard to squeeze in the full craft, so we've done a lot of the simple coloring ornaments this week.  It still gives us a good opportunity to read through the Scripture for the day and talk about what happened in that portion of the amazing Christmas story though.

Day 15 & Day 16 focused on the Luke 2 version of the story and we talked about the manger and the cloths that baby Jesus were wrapped in.  Such humble beginnings!  We did the paper ornament option for these days.  And I even neglected to take a picture of the boys' work.

Day 17, we again read a portion of Luke 2, but this time we focused on the news the shepherds were given while watching their sheep.  So, of course, we made sheep!

Day 18 & Day 19, we read the same portion of Luke 2 where the shepherds from the angels.  The angel ornament on Day 18 makes a mess, so we went with the paper ornament yet again and on Day 19 the boys wanted to do the coloring instead of the involved project, so still more coloring!

Day 20, we read in the end of Luke 2 about when Jesus is taken to the temple as a baby and how he is pronounced to be the Savior by Simeon and Anna and how in awe Jesus' parents were by this.  The faith demonstrated in these accounts in mind-boggling to me.  What brave young people to so willingly and obediently take on these roles as earthly parent to their Heavenly Son!  We again did the coloring as the ornament option wasn't all that exciting.  Here's a picture of the boys Day 19, angel, and Day 20, temple.
