Happy July 4th (and 5th)!

It has been a nice family weekend for us. Friday and Saturday were pretty low key as Doug was preparing to preach on Sunday. After the morning services (there was no evening service due to the holiday), our friends, James, Beth and their daughter, Isabelle came over for lunch. They brought Iranian beef, mint and onion wraps from Conflict Kitchen. It was delicious. Conflict Kitchen is a new restaurant near the Waffle House at Baum and Highland in East Liberty. They feature foods from countries that the US is in conflict with. Interesting idea, huh?

It was great to have friends over for lunch although our kids all deteriorated pretty quickly and they headed home for Isabelle's naptime and our boys went to bed shortly afterward as well. Our boys were obviously sapped because they both had to be woken up from their naps (Tavin at 5pm and Koen at 5:30pm).

Shortly after, our neighbors, Alex, Hilary and Delia and Huxley came over to play in the backyard. Sean and Jen also came to hang out and they stayed for dinner after the kids' bedtimes as well. So much fun just watching Koen and Delia enjoy each other. Kids are easy entertainment!
Ignore Doug's weird look...at least it is cute of the kids.
Tavin and Huxley playing together.

Delia and Koen enjoyed playing, eating and being very silly for hours!

Pool fun on a 90 degree night!

Happy Tavin while eating whole grain rice cereal.
Grumpy Tavin while putting up with being fed carrots.

Today we had a great, long visit with Nate and Megan, Koen's godparents. They brought Fresca too which was so much fun to have her in the backyard with us and relaxing with us in the house. Felt like old times (for those of you that don't know, Fres was our dog until we moved to the city and Nate and Megan adopted her). Koen absolutely adores his godparents. Tavin got some good time in with them too, including her first meeting with Fres. Tavin loved Fresca, waving his arms in excitement as he watched her pace around the room. It was great, easy entertainment for him today.

The boys are off napping again and Doug and I are having some downtime. Then we are off for another fun evening in the backyard at our neighbor's house. Can't wait!
Look at my pretty roses. All from my little rose garden! The other day I counted how many blossoms I had coming or blooming and there were 101 on my 6 simple plants!
