For the second year in a row, North Way Oakland hosted "A Night at the Farm" at Reilly's Summer Seat Farm in the North Hills. The original date was supposed to be in late September on a Saturday night, but unfortunately it rained. The rain date was last night and although it rained on and off a little bit throughout the day, it was a perfect, mild Fall evening for the outdoor evening. Because mom is still here, we were able to leave Penn at home with her (nighttime at a farm isn't exactly a fun time for a crawler). It was fun for Doug and I to just have the two big boys to enjoy this experience with. Tav was hungry to start, so he had a snack. Here's the silly man all ready for some farm fun.
There were a bunch of kids Koen and Tavin's ages from church and around the city, so it was a lot of fun to see them all playing together. Here's Koen with some friends getting a corn hole game started (sort of).
Doug attempted a picture of me with my big boys. Almost...
Sillier, but better.
Tavin and Koen got to help roast their own hot dogs (until they got tired of getting so warm by the fire).
Originally we had planned on leaving around 8pm to get the boys to bed, but that was the set start time for the hayride (that of course the boys were soooo looking forward to). So we hung out and played after dinner until the tractor pulled up. Here are a few attempted shots of us in the dark. The flash worked, but leading up to the flash we couldn't see anything and neither could Alex, taking the picture. You win some, you lose some.
After the hayride, we did indeed head home. But it was a great night of fellowship with friends at the farm (look at that alliteration!). Thanks to everyone involved in the planning! And thanks to Gramma for babysitting Penn Rye. Here's a photo I received from Gramma during his dinner. He did just fine. =)
