Today we had plans to go to Deborah's (Miles, Claire and Hazel's mom). I love it when we have fun plans! We got out of the house pretty quickly, but not before breakfast and a little craft time. Koen worked on his house some more decorating it so cutely (with construction men on the roof!) and Tavin colored with markers. He said he was making it for Daddy, but later he asked for it to be turned into a paper airplane (as translated by him saying, "down" and "whoosh").Then, on to Deborah's! We went straight down to the playroom in the basement which my boys always enjoy. Miles taught Koen a new game today. Miles has a great little hideaway reading corner. He has figured out that the cushions from inside that corner actually block the doorway perfectly (see below)...But look what happens next! He falls through the cushions. Koen thought it was awesome fun!Deborah kept apologizing and asking if I was OK with it. My response was, "as long as they are safe, I love it when they can have some boyish fun and get some of that energy out." They certainly did! Miles then further developed the game and laid under the cushions and told Koen to fall out on top of him. So brave! It surprised Deborah, but the boys thought it was hilarious. In the picture above you can see Miles actually landing softly on Koen. I was impressed Koen had the courage to do it. The hideaway was also popular with the older boys after lunch. They made a zoo in there with plastic animals and trees and then later played with a toy castle in there (for that one they let Claire in).
Tavin kept busy on his own and wore a confused expression most of the time there. I think he was enjoying independently exploring the new toys and was perplexed by the odd games his brother was playing. He was very content the whole time, just reserved and not his smiley self. Thanks, Deborah, Miles and Claire for playing with us all morning. We all had a great time visiting and on this cold day, playing at home with you was the perfect outing for us. We look forward to another playdate soon!
