Here's a cute sound-only video of Koen in the morning hanging out in his room. He's singing a song from a worship CD that we listen to in the car a lot. It's so sweet to hear him praising the Lord and I still absolutely love his little 4 year old accent.
Ok, well, I couldn't get the video to load. Will try again later!
It was a great way to start the day listening to that and Koen was in a very good mood. He and Doug made omelets as they often do on Doug's day off. The boys spent about an hour with Doug so I could get some work done. Koen had a 10am doctor's appointment so we left a little before that had a nice walk there including a great view of a train from the busway bridge ("perfect timing!").
Koen went to the doctor for a check-up after he had some lethargy and headaches earlier in the week. I felt like I wanted to get him checked out before he went back to school and make sure there wasn't anything going on. Thankfully he is a 100% healthy kid. He even got his hearing and eyesight checked and everything is normal. Doesn't he look like the picture of health? I felt a little dumb taking him, but also relieved, so it was worth the visit and the peace of mind for sure!On the way back from the doctor's we had planned to meet up with Doug and Tavin at Osceola. It was a beautiful sunny day and not too hot, so it was a nice morning for some playground time. The best part of the playground (well, besides the fact we were all together) was there were 2 dump trucks, a roller and a few other machines and trucks doing a project at the hockey court. In the picture below you can see Doug and Koen sitting up on the playground equipment watching the action.Tavin was quite interested as well although not quite as patient to just sit and watch so he and I had some fun on the swings and the playground while Koen and Doug served as an audience for the Pittsburgh Public Works crew.We split up on the way home again so Doug and Koen could go put lunch together and Tavin and I walked down into Bloomfield to go to the post office and the bank. In between those errands we walked past Alexander's, a classic Italian restaurant on Liberty Ave. Our neighbor Ceasar used to work there and still helps out hosting at lunchtimes a few days a week. He happened to be outside as we walked by. Tavin loves Ceasar, so we stopped in to say hello. I think it totally made Ceasar's day to show off Tavin to his boss and the server girls. He gave Tavin and I wedding soup on the house too which was fun. It was really sweet. A spontaneous little snack outside with a special friend. I wish I had a picture, but Tavin was all over the place showing off for his audience and eating the soup, so I didn't get a chance to snap one.
After lunch I played with the boys in the backyard until naptime. The boys had pretty good naps and we got them up a little before 5pm. We had plans to head up to the Wexford area for a dinner party. We brought the boys and they did so well. Koen stayed up until 10pm and was on his best behavior (I'm sure we will pay for it eventually, but I was very proud of him in the moment!). Tavin slept there just fine. Here's an adorable shot of him sleeping when we went to get him up to drive home. Passed out!The boys went to bed great. Koen slept in until after 8:15am and Tavin I had to wake up at 9am. It was a relief that we all had a good rest despite the late night.
