At nursery school they are working on kindness. We are also working on that at home! Anyways, they are doing this great idea where with each kindness that is noticed, they put a patch on a quilt that they have hung up on the wall. It is just a simple paper that is covering up some pictures of bears to keep them warm. The patches are just large post-it's. We've adapted this at home too and you can see our kindness quilt that is hanging on our fridge (it's keeping one of the polar bears from the zoo warm). It's been a helpful way to focus on positively reinforcing good behavior instead of always feeling like I'm nagging about bad behavior. Koen is really into it! The reward for filling up the kindness quilt at school is a pajama day and breakfast party. Koen was so excited for this day (they accomplished filling their quilt on Tuesday). He got to wear his choice of pajamas this morning. He wanted to wear his boots, but with our Spring-like weather today he really ended up wearing sneakers (he still looked pretty funny). Koen was also really excited because Doug gave him a ride to school on his bike...definitely a taste of Spring!
While Koen was at nursery school Tavin and I did our normal thing. I got him on video doing peekaboo and just loving it. So cute!
Tavin wore an old puffy coat of Koen's today on the pickup walk because he's growing out of his winter coat. He reminded me so much of Koen in this outerwear! See the comparison for yourself.
Koen got to play in the backyard when we got home. So fun! Then we all just played inside before naptime. Tavin has been in a really awful mood since yesterday and I think that I overdid it with the last few days being so different. Today has been normal, but I think I'm just getting payback for Tuesday and Wednesday. He cried before his morning nap for 20 minutes. Then this afternoon he screamed for 5 minutes and now is up after only an hour. This weekend we'll get back on track as we have very few plans. Koen also isn't napping well today. He had to use the bathroom right after I laid him down for nap and I think he just got too jazzed up or something. Anyways, he's up there right now making noise (which could also be the reason Tav is awake already if he truly is). I'm trying to stay positive, I'm sure this evening will go fine despite two tired, cranky boys? Here's hoping!
