As you may remember, Koen tried biking with no training wheels when we were in NH in November. He was a pro at balancing and maneuvering when up and riding. He had a rough time with stopping and starting, but it was obvious it would come with practice. Since we've been home, I haven't wanted to take his training wheels off of his bike here because my hands are always full with Tavin and getting the boys safely across the street, etc. Well, Gramma and Grampa arrived last night (yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and Koen wasted no time in getting Grampa outside with his tools to take off his training wheels and get acclimated biking with just two-wheels here in the city. After he and Grampa were out for about an hour practicing, Tavin and I joined them and walked down to the playground. Tavin got in some Grampa attention too pulling him in the wagon...Dad is still working on schooling Koen on how to mount the bike and get it moving on his own. Koen doesn't really want to focus on it, he's so excited to just get biking, he wants Grampa to help instead of take the time to learn to do it well on his own. We'll get there though. He does appear determined and to be concentrating in this picture.Look at his happiness and pride as he takes off in this picture. It's so fun watching him ride his bike with no training wheels. It's fast and smooth. He doesn't get held up on every crack and tight space. He really handles the bike well. You can tell he's tasting speed and freedom as he rides. He just doesn't want to stop! Here's a video so you can see for yourself. Sorry for the dizziness you may experience!
