Koen the Archaeologist
After our fun morning making Gingerbread Houses with our neighbors, we headed to the airport to pick up Aunt Abbie! Koen has been looking forward to this literally for months. He was so excited that today was finally the day. Koen and Abbie have a very sweet, close relationship. Abbie was around Pittsburgh for the first 3 years of Koen's life and they spent a lot of time together. It's precious how much Koen loves her and the instant he sees her, they are right back to where they were the last time we were all together. Tavin reads off of his brother, so once Koen started loving on Aunt Abbie, he wanted to as well. Abbie was very pleased. She's a very thoughtful aunt and she brought a little present for each of the boys. A little plane for Tavin and then a dinosaur kit for Koen. Koen, at first, just wanted Tavin's plane (and Abbie was wishing she just got them both a plane), but later this evening when Abbie and Koen got a chance to break into his dinosaur kit, we were all so happy that was his gift. He loved it! It's a mini archaeological dig kit. It looks like a bar of soap which is a chalky material and it comes with a sharp stick and a little brush and you chip away at the bar until you find bones, then you dust them off. There is a whole dinosaur body buried in there. It is going to take Koen forever to get all the bones out, but he is determined with this project. He spent 45 minutes on it tonight at least and we haven't even gotten a bone out yet!I'll have to do an update post once he excavates the whole skeleton!
