Right after Christmas we got a few days of unseasonably "warm" weather. On Friday, it was in the upper 40's, so we all piled in the minivans and went to Highland Park to get some fresh air. Koen and Tavin biked around the reservoir and I enjoyed a lovely walk around it chatting away with my Mom. Grampa, Penn and Doug had fun leisurely strolling.
After our lap around the reservoir (oh, how I would've loved for it to have been 5 laps, but alas this pregnancy makes me way too uncomfortable to do that), we headed over to the Super Playground. The boys just loved the opportunity to run around the huge, outdoor space in the sun and fresh air. We all needed this! Here's a picture of a quick snack break around Grampa. These boys are pretty big fans of their grandparents!
About halfway through our time at the playground, a HUGE hawk flew very low over our heads (literally maybe 18 inches from Grampa's head) and found a perch on a low-hanging branch. It made for a fun adventure for the boys to follow it around as the hawk seemed to know he was getting a lot of attention, but also didn't want to disappoint and fly off. He just moved from place to place, staying in view. Gramma, Grampa and the big boys were totally into following him around.
On Saturday, we again were blessed with an amazing break from the usual winter weather and it was in the mid-50's for our mid-morning playtime. This time we headed to Osceola Parklet. Gramma stayed home, but Grampa joined our Melder crew for some playtime at the park. I got to take another walk (errand to the bank) and Grampa was on Penn duty. They are just such pals. It's so great to watch! Here's some pictures I got before and after my brief walk.
Doug played sports with the big boys. They LOVED it after weeks of not being able to do this regularly. They played soccer and later baseball. Here are a few shots of their soccer game. Tav was a pretty great goalie I heard!
Well, that's all I have for pictures of our warm day outings. We were so blessed with a few warmer-than-usual days. We so needed it!! The temps started to drop after Saturday and a rainy Sunday. Oh well, we'll take what we can get!!
