Well, we are actually home now, but I had a few things to post about our final day or so in NH.
On Monday night, Tavin was on his last leg after waking up coughing again during his nap. Grampa offered to read to him until dinner was ready. Tavin said, "yeah." And they had a nice time snuggling and reading his favorite books.I, of course, have to report on the "two-wheeler" progress Koen made before we left on Tuesday. Initially he said he wanted to put the training wheels back on, but Grampa suggested they just try it without them again first. That was all the prodding Koen needed. He was off and biking right alongside Grampa all morning with no problem. He and Grampa worked on ways for him to get started on the bike with less help and better "dismount" options so that Koen didn't have to practically crash to stop. I couldn't believe all that they accomplished in just two bike ride outings! Koen was so pleased with himself. I have to give my Dad major props on all this biking effort. He was out with Koen at 8:30am and they didn't come in until about 10:30am the day we left for the airport, not to mention he was coming down with the nasty cold Tavin and I had. Such a dedicated Grampa!!
Here you can see Koen "off-roading," handling the "two-wheeler" well even in sand! Here you can see that his balance serves him well as he gets quite distracted and looks all over the place while he pedals along, not to mention he's on gravel and still doing fine.In this picture he was really picking up speed showing off for me. So cute! And another video just to show how much he improved from Sunday to Monday...
We left the house around 11am. Mom and I always cry. It's so hard to leave, but thankfully this time we have Christmas to look forward to only a little more than a month away. Tavin and Koen both waved goodbye and Tavin blew some kisses, so sweet. Dad drove us to the airport and helped us get situated there. Then the boys and I headed off on another plane adventure. They are very good on the plane ride, but during downtimes at the airport and after landing when even on the plane, they got quite silly. It's frustrating because you can't deliver consequences in front of 100 people on a plane, you can't take away the DVD privilege because that's what keeps him chill on the flight. Your hands are tied. I just tried to keep it somewhat under control with "shhh" and stern looks. Tavin is just as naughty as Koen in these situations as he loves to go along with brother or get brother worked up. It's intense, but we made it through and all in all they were fantastic travelers again.
Thanks, Mom and Dad, for a great visit (albeit plagued with illness). Sorry to have left you with our cold. Hopefully you recoup quickly. We love being with you in NH and can't wait until the next opportunity! Christmas come quickly, we already miss Gramma & Grampa!
