Today we went to the zoo with friends to watch the animals enjoy Thanksgiving. It was a great Fall day for being outside. The sun was warm and the temps not too cool. It was great to be outside for a few hours in late November.
Koen loved running all over the zoo with his friend, Caleb. They did really well together, keeping up with us, being interested in the animals and not getting each other too worked up (I was amazed...some little friends get Koen so silly, it's frustrating!). You can see that Koen also had another friend with him, "Maxi the Monkey." It's his preschool class pet. Each classmate gets to bring him home for a weekend and then report on all that Maxi got to do for the weekend. We thought it would be pretty exciting for Maxi to go to Animal Thanksgiving at the Zoo! The lions were hilarious today. Laying on their backs with their feet in the air. Tavin loved watching them and didn't want to leave. He even put his thumb in his mouth (his sign for naptime with blanket), he understood the lions were taking a rest. So cute. The elephants were really entertaining today. All the animals had pumpkins around their exhibits, but the elephants were actually really enjoying them as a snack. It was amazing to see the elephants pick them up with their trunks and crack them between their jaws!We got to watch the polar bear get a snack too, but I didn't get a picture of that. Tavin really enjoyed seeing him swim around too. Tavin definitely enjoys animals. Koen was pretty into them today too (thanks to Caleb's zest for them). Koen really liked watching the sharks, although he got a little nervous when this one got close to him through the glass.A highlight (as usual) was the slides area. Doug was Daddy extraordinare doing all the stairs, spider webs and slides with the boys.It was a great family and friends morning. We went to our friend's house for lunch and that was really nice too to visit with good friends, watch our boys enjoy playing together and eat after our active, outdoor morning. Thanks Terry, Nicole, Caleb and Logan for meeting us and then hosting us for lunch. A great day!!
