Keeping The Gloom Away With Friends

It's been a rainy few days here in the Burgh. Thankfully today we had plans to go to "Miles' house" to play! We got out of the house early, which was easy to convince Koen to do with Miles as a motivator! We ran a bunch of errands (getting ready to go out of town to Nana & PopPop's tomorrow, yay!) and then drove to Miles, Claire and Hazel's house (my friend Deborah's abode).

The big boys did really well playing in the basement. Tavin and Claire did quite well just hanging out with them much of that time too. So fun that they are all old enough to get along pretty well and entertain each other. Tavin basically took over Claire's baby doll stroller the entire morning and Claire was a gracious host. Here's the younger ones (well there was also sweet sleeping Hazel, 8 weeks old) hanging out in the kitchen with the mommies for a little bit so they could have some apples. Pretty cute!Koen and Miles played some make-believe together and did really well. They also just played around each other quite a bit too. It's fun to see them continue to develop in their friendship. These guys have been hanging out since Deborah and I took them swimming the first time when they were just a few months old.

Koen was a little bit of an annoying overbearing little guy today, so we'll have to work on that. I feel like every time we hang out with someone I learn something new about his social development. Today was a little bit of a downer, but there were good moments too. He also got super silly at lunchtime (and so loud!), so my nerves were a little worn when we left, but all in all he did OK.

It's totally worth it to get to spend time with Deborah. I love it when you have friends that you just feel at home with. I could hang out with Deborah for days and still want more chat time. Deborah, I appreciate you so much. You are a great mom and friend!

After our nice morning with our friends we stopped for a way "overdue" trip to the library and then headed home. I love library day. I always love reading with Koen, but we were both so excited that despite our tiredness we read 4 long books. All great choices. Can't wait to read to him tonight and enjoy some more new stories!
