Yay! It's vacation!! Since we were here last year, we had an idea of how we wanted to schedule the day. Breakfast, sunscreen and swimsuit donning and then out the door to the beach. Unfortunately, Tav's foot put a damper on it a little bit and he wanted to hang back with me since I was going to stay back and let Janse have a really good nap (he was cranky in the AM, clearly needed to catch up on sleep!). Penn then wanted to also stay back at home, so it was me and 3 boys and Doug took Koen to the beach. It worked out great as Penn and Tavin are amazing at developing little games to play with each other. It's so much fun to listen to them play together! And Koen loved the opportunity to play in the waves with Doug, just the two of them. After Jansen woke up from his nap, I headed down to the beach with the 3 younger bugs and a bunch of gear and a picnic. And then it was our first time at the ocean as a family of 6!! Very exciting (remember, I'm an ocean girl, having my babies at the beach is a favorite). Tavin had to stay away from submerging his foot, so we showered him with buckets of the temperate ocean water and then he played amazing sand games with Penn. They are such precious partners in play these days! Not to mention, they are wearing matching beach hats!
Doug got Penn out into the water for some super shallow surfing on the boogie board. He loved it!
Jansen wasn't a big fan of laying on the beach blanket under an umbrella, or sitting in the shaded stroller, so sunscreen lubing and riding in the BabyBjorn it was and he LOVED that. His legs didn't stop kicking the whole time. I had to get a picture of the chunky thighs, skinny arms and awesome Daddy (note cool older brother in the background).
Biggest bro, littlest bro, awesomest dad.
We headed home for naptime when Janse started losing it and Koen needed a break from the sun after being out since about 9am! I gave Jansen a bath to get the sunscreen off and then of course, had to take a picture of the sweet babe (he's a little stunned by the lights of the camera, but still had to share).
We had a relaxing afternoon while Penn and Jansen napped HARD! Tired babies! Doug and Koen ran an errand and then we all headed to the pool for some more fun before dinner. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, but note that it was a blast! Can't wait for the next time at the pool. The boys are such fishes! Then we headed home for dinner, baths and bed. A good first full day on vacation!!
