Packed Saturday!

The boys had a packed Saturday afternoon.  We had a pretty low key morning (on purpose) because the afternoon held some very exciting events: Koen's school's start-of-school carnival, Tavin's preschool's Ice Cream Social and then an evening at the Riverhounds soccer game!  Doug was a champ and took them to all these events (which afforded me some much needed quiet time to get things done around the house).  Here are a few pictures he took of the boys enjoying their busy day.

Koen's carnival was a blast.  It was packed with families from the school.  Koen mostly hung out with one of his best buddies in his class, which gave Doug a lot of special time with Tav (who was into trains that day, so naturally wore a conductor cap).

No pictures of the Ice Cream Social, but it was fun and Tavin was thrilled to be "back on campus" and even got to meet his new teacher for this year.  The boys didn't stay there too long though after they got their treat because they needed some down time at home before their exciting night at the soccer game.  Doug is friend's with the Riverhounds' goalkeeper, Hunter, who started in the team's last home game of the season and so Hunter had a few tickets he gave to Doug to get he and the boys in.  I'm so glad they got to go this year as they both enjoyed it so much.  They even didn't mind the brief rainstorm they had to endure they were having such a nice time taking in the game and the special night with their game.
After the storm, there was a gorgeous sunset that evening.  Here's a panoramic Doug took on his phone.  Pittsburgh is a pretty gorgeous city!
When the game was over, the boys got a special treat and got to go down to the field with Hunter and play!  Look at how happy the boys are!
I'm guessing this will be a pretty cool memory for years to come.  How many 7 and 4 year olds get to play on a brand new stadium's soccer field with a player from the city's team?
Thanks to Hunter for the tickets and the special time after the game.  The boys absolutely loved it!  And of course, good job, Douglas.  What a day with your big boys!!
