This weekend is "A Fair in the Park" at Pittsburgh's Mellon park. Last year we went and had a picnic there with Hilary and Alex and the kids, so when I saw it on the calendar for this year I figured we should just make a tradition of it (Hilary and Alex liked the idea too). So last night we met up around 5:30pm to play and picnic in the park. It was a super hot day, but we chose a spot in the shade and it was a lovely night to sit outside with friends. The kids, as usual, were happy to reunite and play. We didn't even eat until after 6pm they were having so much fun. Here are a few shots I got of them playing soccer.
Here's our smorgasbord of a picnic set up buffet style on a stone wall. (I think we were the envy of all the passers-by!, it was quite a fun feast!).
Koen and Tavin were very drawn to the water fountain and who could blame them on this 90 degree day??
Penn played with the older kids, but also did some exploring with Daddy. Then he came to get me for a walk to show me what they had discovered. I made him say "cheese" in front of the pretty green backdrop. His "cheese" is a little overboard!
Turns out his big discovery was a pile of rocks that he had figured out how to climb. He was pretty impressive on there and very proud of himself.
After our little walk, it was time to head back and pack up. It was already bedtime and the kids were showing signs of extreme tiredness (especially poor Koen who must be adjusting to being back in school, etc.). Thanks to Hilary, Alex and the kids for meeting up with us and making this such a lovely, fun evening. We love you guys!
