Labor Day 2014
After our camping trip and Doug's very full work weekend, we kept Labor Day relatively simple. But with 3 highly active boys, you can't exactly sit around and relax all day, so we came up with a fun day for the family.
Doug took the boys to the parade downtown (apparently the second biggest Labor Day parade in the country). Doug's taken Koen and Tavin before, but this was Penn's first time getting to tag along for this boys only event. He was pretty pleased to be along for the adventure. And he LOVED the parade!
Doug took this video of our patriotic boys and Penn totally joining in. Love these boys!!
After the parade, the boys re-parked and then took the subway over to the North Shore to Heinz Field for the RibFest! Our friend Megan Magee was in town and wanted to hang out with us a bit before heading home, so she picked me up at home and we drove down to meet the boys for lunch. It was hot, humid and a delicious, fun lunch with one of our favorite friends. Here's the boys giving her some sweet goodbye hugs before we took off for home (and some baths and naps...sweaty little guys!).
After a restful afternoon, we had a few friends over for a laid back cookout (which was mostly indoors due to the threat of storms and the thick, hot, humid air outside!). It was great to just relax, catch up and let our friends enjoy being around the boys (it was loud!, but they did a good job).
So, pretty simple Labor Day, but always lots of fun to be had in this city and in this family!
