Summer Vacation 2012 - NH, Part II

Well, I might as well pick up where I left off...

Wednesday
Originally we had hoped to start our full day together with a trek to the beach, but the rainy AM weather forecast changed that plan.  We woke up to quite a downpour for the first few hours of the day.  It cleared by 10am and we were all wondering if we should just throw together a picnic and head to the seacoast, but we decided that would be too rushed.  So, Douglas and Grampa took Koen and Tavin on a fun little bike ride in East Concord and Mom and I went out and ran some errands before lunch.  After naptime we just stayed around the house and got the boys outside.  Here's a very sweet picture of Koen and Penn getting re-acquainted at some point on Wednesday.
I love seeing the boys out in the yard keeping busy enjoying some simple outdoor play just like I used to do in this great yard.  Here's Doug helping Tavin collect pinecones.
And then Tavin would deposit them under the big pine tree.  Later, he and Koen might quite a game of collecting treasures in their wagons and stockpiling them under the tree.
What's a day at Gramma and Grampa's without a Jeep ride?  Koen was excited to get back in one of his favorite vehicles.  This year he gets to ride with his booster seat all by himself.  He's quite the brave rider and he and Grampa pretend (at speeds slower than a turtle) that they are hiding from the enemy.
Later that evening after the big boys lay exhausted in their beds, Penn got to have some special one-on-one time with Gramma and Grampa during fussy time.  Mom and I have been enjoying walking him during these extra long wake times, but he also gets quite settled and sociable in the arms of his calm grandparents.  Also note, Penn's adorable outfit.  A new favorite.  In this first picture I feel like he's saying, "Hey Gramma!"
In this one I think he's saying, "that was a good one...ah ha ha ha."
Look at the eye contact with Gramma.  She's such an experienced natural and they are old friends from Gramma's amazing one month stay with us upon Penn's arrival.
Starting to get a little tired of the conversation, an 8 week old can only converse at 8:30pm for so long!
I had high hopes of blogging about 3 days worth of pictures in the downtime I had this afternoon (all 3 boys are out cold!), but alas, it's 4pm.  Time to wake up Penn and feed him and wake up Koen so he'll get to bed OK tonight.  The boys are all doing such a great job adjusting to a different (although familiar) environment...sleeping and eating well and very comfortable with the grandparents.  We are so thankful for that and the health we are enjoying on this vacation visit.  It's off to a great start!  Hopefully tonight I can catch you up on the rest of what we've done so far.
