Mother's Day Weekend

It's been a nice weekend here at the Melder home.

On Friday, Doug knocked off several huge items on his list of things he wanted to get done before baby arrives.  Here's the porch project...

We have some touch-up painting to do on the wood that remains from the original porch, but the composite floorboards, stair work and railings are done and all in one day.  Thanks, Douglas.  Love it!  And no more splinters (Koen and Tavin are both awesome at getting them removed - very brave).  Thanks to Luke, Stephan, John and Luke Z.  We were blessed by your hard work alongside Doug.  The porch isn't all these guys accomplished.  They also fixed a gutter issue at the corner of the house and dug out a new garden bed.  Koen actually got to help in the afternoon.  He was so excited...

Tavin got in on the action too after naptime.  I wish I had pictures.  He thought he was so important.  Absolutely precious.  I even did a little duty with lining the garden bed with bricks (and the following day enjoyed doing some of that painting).

On Saturday, Koen and Douglas made me a delicious Mother's Day breakfast.  Omelettes, chocolate chip muffins and strawberries.  Yum!  They set the dining room table and laid out the sweet gifts Koen made at preschool for me.  Here are the pictures of the special creations...

Later that morning, Koen and Doug headed to soccer practice and I got to have some more sweet one-on-one time with Tavin.  We hung out at home and then did some errands on foot.  I heard from Doug via text that Koen got his first legitimate goal in his scrimmage at soccer.  So exciting!  About an hour or so later we met up with Doug and Koen and pretty much every friend from the neighborhood at the Friendship Folk & Flower Festival at Baum Grove.  It was a very nice morning/midday.  The rest of our day was pretty low key, which was especially nice.  The boys and I had a blast before dinner playing basketball in the back yard while Doug made homemade pizza.

Today was a pretty normal day for us as Doug worked all day.  Here are the boys all handsome (and a little silly) before church.

Doug preached live at Oakland this morning which I always enjoy.  We also got to watch several friends' dedicate their babies to the Lord today.  Very appropriate for Mother's Day!   Koen and Tavin both made me some adorable crafts at church in honor of Mother's Day.  The best part was how excited Tavin was.  He was so proud of himself for making a craft for me.  He kept asking, "bring home?"  I assured him over and over, yes, "bring home."  I kept offering to hold it for him and he wanted to keep it in his hands.  So cute.  They took the pictures for the photo magnet crafts at nursery.  Isn't Tav's smile so precious!
Koen was a little rough around the edges this afternoon and tonight, but we managed to pull through thankfully and had a nice end to the night.  Thanks to all my 3 boys for a nice Mother's Day Weekend.  I love you all!
