From Cookie-Making to Playground-Playing

Today we had fun plans to hang out with Deborah, Miles, Claire and Hazel.  But first we hung out at home and made some cookies.  It was a chilly morning here in the Burgh, so it was fun to warm up the kitchen with the yummy smell of chocolate chip cookies.  Koen and Tavin were very into the cookie-making process this time.  It was a really great activity for all of us.  Stress and issue free amazingly (not much goes like that these days).  Koen has gotten very good at mixing the ingredients and Tavin was so happy to have his own bowls, measuring cups and "pretend cookie ingredients," i.e. macaroni.

While I put the cookie batter onto the baking sheet, the boys pretended to do the same by scooping Tavin's macaroni mixture into muffin tins.  They loved it.  Then it was a fun game for Koen to go on a scavenger hunt for all the macaroni pieces on the floor.  I couldn't believe it.  So helpful and no complaints.  A nice break from the past few days where he's had quite a grumpy attitude about almost everything.  So, after the cookies were baked and our packed lunch was all set, we headed out the door to see our friends at the Highland Park playground.  As always, it was a great visit.  Koen and Miles ran around all over the place.  So much so that I caught absolutely no pictures of them.  Tavin enjoyed learning that he could do a new section of this huge playground and he was so happy with himself.  Adorable.  Here he is conquering the new territory.

After our yummy lunch in the sun (it was chilly today in the shade!), Tavin and Claire finally started really interacting and playing together.  It's not a great picture, but it was so adorable to see them working on a little project together (they were gathering mulch from one side, crawling through a tiny crawlspace and placing it on the other side).  So cute.
Thanks for a fun visit to the playground.  We always love hanging out with you Deborah, Miles, Claire and Hazel.  Can't wait til our next meetup.
