Winter Is Better With Friends

It certainly looks like winter here in Pittsburgh. We've had days and days of snow flying around, super cold temps and blustery winds. Most of these cold days we have to stay indoors most of the day, so it is always so helpful to have friends to pass the "closed in" season with.

Yesterday we went to Miles' house. I can't believe it, but Koen & Miles have basically known one another their whole lives. It's cute to be able to see them as little friends that have really gone through life essentially together so far. They are becoming quite the little boys. They had fun playing in Miles' basement which is like a dreamland to Koen. So many new and different toys to play with! It was a great break from our own playroom.
Tavin also really enjoyed our visit this time. He and Claire managed around one another, playing in their own way.
Tavin took an awesome morning nap while we were there, so we were able to get Koen, Miles and Claire outside for about 45 mins. Deborah (Miles' mom) had a baby sled for Claire and a blowup tube for the boys to share. They did great taking turns riding down the hill and then carrying the sled back up again.
Oddly enough, carrying the sled back up was almost as exciting as the ride down. We tried to make a snowman, but it the snow wasn't the right consistency. Koen was creative though and said he was making Claire into a snowman. He even went and got a stick that could be her nose. Hilarious! Finally, we had the boys make their first snow angels of the season.
After that, they were exhausted and we headed in for a yummy lunch before heading home. Thanks for a great playdate and lunch, Deborah! We will definitely do it again soon.
After afternoon naptime, the boys got up and we got dinner ready. Hilary, Delia and Huxley came over to share the meal with us. Delia and Koen as always had fun, but it was really cute because Tavin and Huck "played" together too. It'll be fun to watch these two develop a friendship like the one between their older siblings. We are so blessed to have these friends as neighbors just a few doors down!
So, yesterday was a blast keeping hearts and homes warm with friends and fun. I feel so blessed for our community here in the Burgh!
