New Year's Eve at the Zoo

It's in the 40's here in the Burgh today, so we decided that it was a good day for an outdoor adventure with the Aussies at the zoo. It was overcast and therefore seemed quite cool most of the morning, but now that we are home it is bright and beautiful out. It's supposed to get to almost 50!

Mo had never been to a zoo before, so it was exciting getting to show him his first visit. He got a good closeup of the Tiger like we did last time - amazing!

The Lions were quite noisy when we passed by. They are such beautiful and majestic animals! Here is a picture and a really cool video of the Lion "roaring."

Mo also enjoyed watching the Elephants. We stayed in the Elephant house for awhile. The baby is so cute!

The Polar Bears were up close and personal today like I'd never seen before. Look at how huge this beast is in comparison to Mo!At lunchtime Koen spotted a broom behind a zoo shed and before we knew it he was pretending to be a zookeeper keeping the zoo clean. Hilarious (well, until a real zookeeper asked us to put the broom away)!
We all had a nice family time just strolling through the zoo.

Koen was a little overtired today as he didn't really nap yesterday. It is crazy to me that with 12 hours of sleep a night he is still tired and needs that afternoon nap, but I'm going to enjoy it as long as I can! Tavin slept through most of the zoo trip. He took and hour and a half nap in the stroller! He did get some babyBjorn time after that which I forgot to catch on camera. With how big he's getting and how many layers he is in due to the chill, he looks pretty stuffed into that thing now. Here's a picture of the cute man having his real fun of the day reorganizing the pantry.
Should be a relaxing afernoon. The Aussies are out exploring the Strip District and so we are having some downtime. I hope to maybe get out on another walk and take advantage of this sunshine and mild temperature. Tomorrow looks like rain all day.
PS - Fun to run into Emily, Dan, and Jack today. Fun to bump into James, Beth & Isabelle too. Also, it was great to see Robert, Amy and the kids. Our friends think we are local celebs that we bumped into so many people we knew at the zoo. =)
