This past Wednesday we had a fun day of reuniting with friends we haven't seen in awhile. First, Penn got to have a speech therapy session with Miss Allison for the first time in a month! Between Spring illnesses and travel plans, we've missed seeing her for at least 4 weeks in a row! I figured Penn would be all out of sorts and shy with her (especially after how weird he was over the weekend), but it was quite the opposite. He was hamming it up and loving all over her. It was great to see (and I'm pretty sure it made her day). He even wanted to walk down the stairs holding her hand. So sweet!
A little while later, we had an even more significant reunion. Dr. Megan and Baby Marshall came to town for a visit!!! Do you recognize Marshall? He turned into quite the toddler these last 4 months!
Megan left about one month before Jansen was born. We've both been so looking forward to her getting to meet this little man. It wasn't long after her arrival that she got her hands on him.
And then she kept her hands on him and enjoyed him totally falling into a sweet nap on her. I wasn't getting him back now. Who wants to give up that preciousness?
Megan wasn't sure how Marshall would respond to her holding another little one, but I think he did a great job. He did join them for some snuggles though.
Our mutual friend, Julia, and her daughter, Maelen, joined us for the playdate too. Penn and Maelen were a little unsure of each other at first. This picture says it all...they were trying to cooperate and smile, but neither really trusted the other enough to take their eyes off of each other (they were vying for the trucks a bit). So funny!
Penn, Maelen and Marshall got along great all in all and even enjoyed lunch together while we mommas chatted away as we had some much needed catching up to do!
That wasn't all for the reunion though. Marshall and Megan left for naptime and we headed that way ourselves, but after Koen got home from school and the little ones were up from nap, we headed to Osceola Parklet to meet up with Megan and Marshall again. Megan wanted the opportunity to see the big boys too (Tav had come home at the end of our playdate, but she didn't get to see Koen at all). I was happy to see my dear friend twice in one day (felt like old times!) and nostalgic to meet up at one of our favorite spots from this past Fall. Crazy that the last time we had been there together I was pregnant with Jansen and now I have this sweet little babe.
Unfortunately, Tavin had a crazy bloody nose, so excuse his tissue mustache. It took ten minutes to stop the bleeding!
Here's Marshall still loving the baby swings as much as he did months ago. Such a happy little guy (and an amazing traveler, in the past few weeks he's been in Africa, England, the Caribbean, Kentucky and now here!).
All the boys ate dinner at the park, but around 6pm thing started to fall apart, so we headed home for baths and bedtime. I'm relieved it wasn't goodbye for good though, we hope to see Megan and Marshall a few more times during their visit to the Burgh. Just these few hours with my dear friend, Megan, have been fuel for my soul!
