Watching the marathon has become a fun family tradition for us. This year, we were invited to check out the Inspiration Station put on by the Friendship Neighborhood. I had no idea what were missing these last few years! We usually go down to Bloomfield, which is definitely interesting, but the Friendship station at Baum and Roup was family-oriented and loaded with friends and neighbors. It was a great to spend Sunday morning when there was no church to go to and Doug was up at the Wexford campus of our church preaching. Here's Koen and Tavin handing out freeze pops to the hard-working runners.
After about an hour and a half in the sun, cheering on runners, making signs and the boys eating tons of fun snacks and the lunch I packed, not to mention hanging out with friends and neighbors, we headed home for the afternoon. What a beautiful day for the marathon! Congratulations to all the runners that day. It was perfect weather for spectators, but I'm guessing a tad too hot for the runners. I'm glad I was on the sidelines cheering and not on the road running!!
