I'm still in NH with Tav and Penn, but Koen and Doug arrived home last night. Doug had to be home for work today where he preached live at all 3 services at Oakland. So, the problem was what to do with Koen for the day? Godparents to the rescue!!! And they didn't just take him for the day...they gave him the best Sunday yet this summer probably! Koen went to the 9am service and then Nate and Megan took Koen with their two kids, Alex and Andy to a fire truck muster (we are still all a little confused as to what on earth this event is exactly) on the North Shore. Dear Aunt Megan had packed her family lunch as well as one for Koen. Not a bad picnic spot either, gotta love the Burgh.
I guess the boys enjoyed the chance to sit in the fire trucks. The one below was the oldest fire truck at the "muster," circa 1928.
That wasn't all though, in the afternoon I received more pictures via text from the amazing Aunt Megan and Uncle Nate. Here's Koen cooking up some banana muffins with Alex.
I heard there was also a hike in the woods behind their house. And not only that, who knew that Aunt Megan was a face-painting artist? She turned my firstborn into a leopard!
And on top of all this fun, Aunt Megan also made a super delicious and healthy dinner for her family, Koen and enough to give Doug a portion to take home with him for his dinner after his long day. Megan and Nate...we can't thank you enough for giving Koen such a great day, doing such an amazing job caring for him and making it a special time and then also serving Doug with that lovely meal after his long day.
