Although these long drive days are long, they continue to be fascinating!! We traveled from the mountainous red rocks in Arizona into desert, blue sand dunes, mesas, Monument Valley, more desert, more amazing rock and sand structures, canyons, buttes and plains. The scenery was incredible. Although some of it made me sad because we spent a lot of time driving through Native American reservations in such a desolate and difficult land area. The boys and I have studied about their push out west because of settler expansion and it is so saddening and the effects remain to this day. We’ve had some opportunities to discuss it with the boys as we pass through these areas. After traveling hours through Arizona and a tad in New Mexico, we crossed into Colorado and within just 20 minutes we were amidst lush valleys, tall trees and mountains looming ahead. The contrast was so obvious. This land we live in is really impressive!
So…why are we in Colorado? Well, our first stop is a remote cabin owned by a distant relative. We are going dark…wifi free, no cell reception, we even have to bring our own drinking water. And we are excited! So, if the blog posts are delayed this is why. But stay tuned, I’ll catch you up when we get back into civilization!
View from the front porch of the cabin with the Dolores River below. Lovely greeting!
Until next time we get WiFi!
