We've had a bit of a clumsy week.
On Sunday, Tavin took a huge fall as he was riding his bike down a hill. He scraped up his face, arm and leg. It was quite traumatic for him and took awhile to get over as there was swelling and the scrapes are on his face and nose, so they are frustrating areas to wait to heal.
On Monday, Koen tripped at school and came home with 5 band-aids in different spots where he had gotten scraped from that fall. He didn't seemed phased, but he was quite banged up!
Then on Wednesday we had a double whammy. Jansen was sitting up in Penn's room and fell slowly down to his belly, hitting his forehead on the corner trim of Penn's dresser. I was very upset about this one. At first the puncture looked like it might need stitches, but after icing it for 10 minutes and the recovery time of a morning nap, Jansen looked quite good and I don't even think it will scar (not to mention I'm treating it with neosporin and mederma to hopefully prevent that). Here he is a little while after his nap on a walk, none the wiser that he has a tiny hole in his sweet head.
Then later in the evening we were at a playground and I was pushing Penn "higher, faster, higher, faster" as requested and by mistake he flew right off the swing (slippery pants?, did he let go?) and landed on his face. I was afraid his nose was broken! There was no blood and he got over it pretty quickly, but he had quite a few red marks and scrapes and I was really nervous. The next morning the redness had disappeared and it was apparent that he just had scrapes leftover from the fall. Phew! He was super happy and himself...here he is posing in the leaves before preschool.
So that's our fair share, right? We should have paid our accident dues for at least a month, right? I sure hope so. It is not fun to watch your kids get hurt (and in such close proximity most of them! What am I doing wrong??!).
