We've been in need of a Daddy Day desperately. These past few weeks have been packed full of work commitments for Doug. Very exciting times, yes, but quite taxing as well (for him and for me on the homefront). Today Doug was able to have mostly the whole day off. Yay! He got Koen on the bus, Tav to preschool and then picked up Penn for some special Daddy time. They went to Oakland to the library there. Doug captured these pictures.
After they read some books on the sunny lawn at Schenley Plaza, Doug treated Penn to a very special treat. They rode the carousel!! Penn was completely unsure at first. Can you tell?? Look at that face!
But once the carousel started, he was a big fan. Look at his sweet face!!
After they finished their fun in Oakland, they headed over to pick up Tavin. All the while, I got to enjoy a warm weather walk with Jansen to Target and then we all met up for a little splurge of lunch out (hadn't done that since before Janse was born). Then Doug dropped Penn, Jansen and I off at home and he took Tavin over to his office to help him organize. Tav was a HUGE help. Look at our little hard worker!!
Tav worked for a solid two hours. He is an amazing kid, such a diligent, serious kid. I love it! Doug brought him home at 4pm. Just in time to take Koen to his first night of soccer. This program is fantastic. Koen gets taught by Riverhounds players on their beautiful field overlooking the city. Talk about a neat experience for an 8 year old!
Well, that's the summary of the much-needed Daddy day. I'm so thankful for the engaged, interested and loving father Doug is to these 4 boys. Today was just a small example of how he loves to spend time with K, T, P and J.
