Koen and I continue having our weekly science experiments. Some are a little lackluster and others are big hits. This week was a big hit. My favorite part is seeing Koen's face light up as he learns something new or is impressed by the science. This week we learned about carbon dioxide and made raisins dance and chalk dissolve.
Experiment one involved a fizzy drink which we dropped raisins into. It's so cool. The raisins literally dance up and down the glass as the carbon dioxide (bubbles) get stuck in the wrinkles at the bottom and then at the top of the glass they burst which sends the raisin back down. Try it!! It did it for hours. We left the glass around just to get surprised throughout the afternoon/evening. Fun!
Our second experiment was dissolving chalk in vinegar. The carbon dioxide comes shooting out of the chalk like little cyclones emitting from a volcano. Koen loved it. (It got a little less exciting later since the piece of chalk was too big to completely dissolve, but he got the idea).
