Who cares if it's almost 100 degrees outside! We're game for an adventure. Last night we walked down to the Invitational Car Show on Walnut St. It's one of the first events revolving around the Grand Prix race that will happen this coming weekend. The cars are pretty amazing and the boys were excited to check them out (not to mention Doug met us there after work). They withstood the heat just fine with all the distraction (and the snacky dinner and lots of water I had packed). Koen gets an extra shout-out as he scootered all the way there and back. He's quite the urban 6 year old! Koen and Tavin spotted a Corvette, so we snapped a pic for Grampa.
Here's a cool car Koen asked to take a picture of, he's a budding photographer as of late.
Koen was excited to find an automobile from 1910, the same year our house was built. Yep, another photo opp of course. They wanted me in the picture and then Tav struck this hilarious pose. I put my hand on his head so Koen thought that's what he should do too. Altogether, it's pretty funny.
The boys spotted another Corvette and amazingly it was parked right next to a 1953 Willy's Jeep. What are the odds?? Here, Daddy, your grandsons were thinking of you.
On our way out (and just before a meltdown from the two hot big boys), they spotted a VW bus just like a few toy vans they have at home. This one was decked out with retro paraphernalia. Very impressive! Tavin wanted to play in it so badly!
We got home pretty sweaty and beat, but after baths and showers the boys hit the hay hard and we all had a nice evening altogether. I love living in the city and being able to walk to something like this on a whim and end up having such a fun, family time. Hopefully we'll make it to some Grand Prix events this weekend to see the racing!
