Koen was a helpful big brother and let Penn climb up and "drive" a few times which helped Penn realize that this event was actually fun and not just overwhelmingly loud.
This was a new truck for me this year. A fish truck! Real live fish in it! Apparently, it restocks the rivers and lakes, etc. in PA.
The line was too long at the cab of the semi, so instead the boys got to run around in the back!
Tav looks pretty happy to be driving the port-a-potty truck.
The boys also loved getting a ride on the lift at the back of the truck (you know, the one that lifts the port-a-potties up and down!).
And here he is in the street sweeper. He was super excited about this one!
Koen and Tavin were waiting to drive this auger drill truck, so Penn and Daddy jumped on the back.
Later joined by the driving brothers of course.
Long line for the military vehicle, but the boys were determined to get to climb up in the huge truck to get a picture for Grampa.
Me and my very boyish crew (note skyline in background...such a cool location for this event!).
Doug and I agreed that this event is a favorite (if you can get over the noise). It's outside, there's plenty of space, lots of trucks and it's just simply enjoyable for the boys to get to explore these fascinating vehicles that they so enjoy seeing at work around the city. The vehicle operators are all so kind and the whole thing is very affordable and the small cost is for a good cause as this is the Junior League of Pittsburgh's fundraising event. If you live in the Burgh, have kids that like trucks and didn't get to check it out this year. Mark your calendar for next year. You won't want to miss it!
Penn must have been awestruck with the immensity and loudness of the trucks, that's why he was subdued for a little while. Maybe beginning with smaller vehicles would have been the right trick, as he was thrilled to "drive" the ambulance. Whatever the case, this is one educational family day, as the boys got to see the trucks and what they do. Take care!
