Koen's Last Day of 2nd Grade

Wednesday was Koen's last day of 2nd grade.  Did I really just type that?  Do I have a child old enough to be on the cusp of entering the 3rd grade?  Yep, that's right.  Time has whooshed by yet again and my firstborn, my original baby is well on his way to graduating from a big boy to a young man.  Doug took his picture at their last wait at the bus stop of the year.  How handsome!
Koen, great job with another great year at school.  We saw you develop and change in a lot of ways this year.  New friendships, learning to get along well with all those in your class, loving your unit studies (farms, rocks/minerals, Native Americans, Western Europe) and gym and recess of course.  Your reading abilities have just sky-rocketed this year and we love that you are now enjoying digging into chapter books on your own.  In Math, another subject you really enjoy and excel at, it was fun to watch you apply yourself and creep up the levels of "Rocket Math."  We are proud of you and thankful for your zest for learning and time with your peers.  I'm thrilled to have you home this summer, but we already look forward too to continue to seeing you grow and thrive at school in the Fall in the 3rd grade (wow!).  Love you, Koen.
